Jesus stands behind a returned young man and gently draws a clean white robe over his shoulders. The son, still dressed in worn travel garments, looks outward as he receives the covering that speaks of welcome, forgiveness, and restored identity. The composition echoes the parable of the Prodigal Son, where the father commands that the best robe be brought for the child who was lost and has come home.

The robe becomes the central symbol of grace: the repentant son does not earn his place back in the household, but is received by mercy.
